Dead of Winter
Well winter wishes! We are in deep dark winter and need to be quiet, cozy and fill ourselves with warmth. Soups, teas, and warm nights by the fire or in the bathtub is what is best at this time of year. According to the Chinese medicine calendar we have another 3 weeks of this special time when we nourish the winter element of water which governs the Kidneys. Going to bed by 10PM and getting enough rest now will help us throughout the rest of the year. Living in balance with each season is like putting money aside in a savings account to be used for a time when it's more needed. Our energy builds when it's properly taken care of.
If you are feeling more tired, rest. If you are extra fatigued, come in for acupuncture treatment, and herbs and moxa if necessary. Eat kidney beans, root vegetables and if you eat meat, meats slowed cooked on the bone. Here is a vegetable root recipe I shared last year that is perfect for this time of year: https://www.dharmaacupuncture.com/single-post/2017...
Community acupuncture clinic is on for this Saturday Jan 22nd and Feb 2nd. These will be the last community clinics offered in the current space. I will be expanding my practice to include an herb shop and community acupuncture clinic on Neal St. It's a lovely ground level space behind the Tricounties Bank building with PARKING! This is an additional space where I can accomplish one of my long term dreams of hosting weekly community acupuncture clinics and have an extensive raw herbal pharmacy. More details to come soon!
